Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications at the moment are open and can shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to satisfy the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a home by using a combined gross family earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined household money won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not post any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the correct Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected inside their South African ID.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
